Where Our Lives Began | Stories from Home

I always try to tell the stories of people's lives I get to document, not just in pictures but in honoring them with my words as well.

But when Corrie posted the following with one of the previews I sent her, I knew it needed to be repeated here. I am so, so grateful to have had the chance to peek into their lives and document such a powerful and beautiful story. Read it, and see the photos below.

"We usually have dishes stacked in the sink and our trailer home looks more like the before versions on Fixer Upper. It doesn't have a dishwasher or garbage disposal and its walls have a lot of "character." But those walls have seen us fight through miscommunications and unmet expectations during our first 2.5 years of marriage and they've seen us laugh and pray and cry as we learned to love and trust God together, not just as individuals.

The kitchen is where I learned to make chicken more than one way and where he graciously never complained regardless of what was or wasn't for dinner. It's been moved out of and back into twice to be used for summer staff housing and the "guest room" of bunk beds has slept more college students than I would have ever imagined. It gave us the freedom to pay off all our debt in hopes we can live more generously in the future.

It became home because it's where we became "us."
